Our Mission
The Mission of Wags and Whiskers is to work toward having
“No More Homeless Pets” in our area.
We will do this by:
-
Offering a Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance and Education Program
-
Partnering with other organizations that are working with the Cumberland County Animal Shelter to enable it to become and remain a “Low Kill” facility
-
Providing assistance when we can to save an animal and keep it in its home
Our Organization
We are organized as a non-profit Tennessee Corporation, in the form
of a Society with members and Officers. We are classified as tax
exempt by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service under section
501(c)3 of the IRS Code. Our members and volunteers provide
all of our services and support without pay.
Our Programs
After being a classic pet rescue for six years, we have transitioned from a Pet Rescue to an Advocacy Organization for Spay / Neuter. We no longer have adoptable dogs and cats in our program, are no longer conducting adoption events so we no longer accept new animals. We are assisting in animal transports from local shelters to northern rescues. We are now providing an expanded financial assistance program to those who need to have their pets sterilized. We are also able to refer those who can otherwise afford the surgery to a local veterinarian or spay / neuter clinic.
